Planning High-Impact & Values-Centered Action

Dismantling white supremacist lens amongst collaborators in a 100+ person network

About Our Client

Results Baltimore is a strategic consortium of highly esteemed business professionals united by a collaborative vision of a Baltimore that works for all — particularly through an economic justice lens.

The Brief

Navigating Systemic Change

Baltimore has particular needs that require a nuanced racial and social justice lens to understand. At just over 63% Black residents, Baltimoreans navigate through unique complexities every day. After completing racial equity training, and having deeper, challenging, and honest conversations, the group felt compelled to make a dent in dismantling systemic racism. They had completed a successful network launch with more than 100 leaders and several town hall meetings, getting to know each other and receiving feedback.

Realizing that the next step required a new facilitator who not only understood the nuances of Baltimore, but also how to hold space for multiple perspectives and personalities, and strategy and community-centered design, the advisory group wondered ”Who will guide us through the next process?" They directly invited us to submit a proposal outlining a game plan and loved what we presented!

Our Role

  • Social Impact Strategy Consultant

  • Implementation Partner & Facilitator

Grounding our approach

Our first phase has been a period of discovery, analyzing network surveys and conducting one-on-one interviews with the advisory group. We wrapped up that phase with a presentation on an iterative 2-year strategy, followed by a high-level, theme-oriented 10-year focus plan. Our next phase is supporting the operationalization of the advisory group, developing the network design and the associated infrastructure necessary to support implementation, co-developing a communications plan and then launching the new strategy for the larger network.

Impact & Outcomes:

Uncovering the real role of the Advisory Group as well as how to meaningfully engage the network and wider community to create sustainable transformation like Baltimore has never seen before.

Created an iterative process with strategic feedback points as our core GPS

Aspiration: Bridging the gap between grassroots and grass-top organizations to work more collaboratively

Aspiration: Co-creating a long-term, multi stakeholder process to develop tools to break down economic injustice in Baltimore City

What’s Next & How:

By learning, doing, reflecting, pivoting, and persevering, we will interweave and adapt a range of models and frameworks to meet the nuances of this ambitious project. This will be iterated across a diverse and large group of stakeholders over cyclical phases.

We are currently working on facilitating actionable discussions for a network of 100+ leaders collectivized around economic equity in Baltimore.
